Demonstration of Janus Explore Slam 100 on CUT undergraduate course
For the purposes of selecting the appropriate equipment for the CONNECTING project, the “Janus Explore Slam 100” mobile laser scanner was sent to the university on a trial lease for 2 weeks in order to test both the field measurements as well as the data processing in specific software. On January 23rd 2024, as part of the “Documentation of Monuments” course, the responsible professor Dimitrios Skarlatos with PhD candidate Marinos Vlachos and Research associate Giorgos Kafataris demonstrated the “Janus explore” to the 4th-year students. Specifically, the basic technology and operation of the “Janus explore” was explained. This was followed by the acquisition of a ten-minute scan around the Rector’s buildings, and then the basic data processing workflow in software was presented.
