For the purposes of selecting the appropriate equipment for the CONNECTING project, the “Janus Explore Slam 100” mobile laser scanner was sent to the university on a trial lease for 2 weeks in order to test both the field measurements as well as the data processing in specific software. On January 23^rd 2024, as part of the “Documentation of Monuments” course, the responsible professor Dimitrios Skarlatos with PhD candidate Marinos Vlachos and Research associate Giorgos Kafataris demonstrated the “Janus explore” to the 4th-year students. Specifically, the basic technology and operation of the “Janus explore” was explained. This was followed by the acquisition of a ten-minute scan around the Rector’s buildings, and then the basic data processing workflow in software was presented.
