First Assessment of the SLAM CHCNAV RS10 at the CUT: Evaluating Indoor and Outdoor Performance
Today, the first survey using the SLAM CHCNAV RS10 was conducted to evaluate its indoor and outdoor performance at the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). PhD candidate Kyriakos Michaelides and postgraduate student Giorgos Kafataris carried out the survey.
This initial assessment aimed to examine the SLAM CHCNAV RS10’s accuracy, efficiency, and adaptability in mapping indoor and outdoor environments. This evaluation is particularly important for understanding the system’s performance in different conditions, including areas with limited GPS signals and complex structural layouts.
During the survey, the researchers tested the device’s real-time positioning capabilities, point cloud generation, and overall ease of use in various university buildings and open spaces. The results from this assessment will contribute to future applications of SLAM technology in urban mapping, heritage documentation, and smart city initiatives.
