Demonstration of Janus Explore Slam 100 on CUT undergraduate course

For the purposes of selecting the appropriate equipment for the CONNECTING project, the "Janus Explore Slam 100" mobile laser scanner was sent to the university on a trial lease for 2 weeks in order to test both the field measurements as well as the data processing in specific software. JanusExplore – Omniasphere used for the CONNECTING project

JanusExplore mobile laser scanner was tested for data collection at the Tombs of the Kings. In case of proceeding with JanusExplore purchase, the equipment will be acquired via CONNECTING project although the data will be re-used in ENGINEER project. The potential acquisition of the laser scanner will also facilitate the planned activities of the CUT team within the context of the ongoing research projects while engaging national stakeholders (i.e., DoA) in the data collection process.

Internal CUT meeting

A meeting was held earlier today between CUT members to discuss details regarding the budget allocation of the infrastructure that will be acquired for the needs of the project. A detail .xls spreadsheet was prepared and discussed. Future actions have been also planned.

CONNECTING website on KTISIS

CONNECTING website was launched on KTISIS repository. KTISIS will be used to facilitate the use and re-use of data pertaining to the project’s activities as well as for sharing and disseminating the project’s outcomes. Internal CUT meeting

CUT members have met earlier today to discuss in depth the procedures and details for the infrastructure that will be acquired by the organization. Details regarding the services and the characteristics of the drones, cameras etc have been discussed, as well as potential arrangements is CUT spaces.

CUT-Infralabs meeting

Earlier today, CUT members held a meeting with Infralabs to discuss the initiation of actions related to the development of the cloud data center. Both parties have concurred that a test platform will be created in a virtual environment, anticipating the subsequent hardware purchase. The CUT team will contribute demo data for various testing activities on the platform. Another meeting is scheduled to address the application server for visualizing and serving geospatial data.

CONNECTING introduced at ARGUS Horizon Europe Kick off meeting

CONNECTING project was presented by Dr. Athos Agapiou during the kick-off meeting of ARGUS Horizon Europe project on December 18-19, 2023 in Athens. ARGUS is expected to run for 36 months and draws on the current challenges in monitoring remote built heritage assets and the current research focus on preventive preservation. CONNECTING Logo is out!

The CONNECTING logo is now officially launched! Design options were presented to partners at the December 6th kick-off meeting, where consortium members offered feedback. The new logo, a product of constructive discussion, embodies the CONNECTING knowledge centre's vision for sustainable heritage. The colour transition from yellow to blue symbolizes the project's diverse demonstration activities on land and underwater.

CONNECTING Kick-off Meeting

The official kick-off meeting of CONNECTING project took place earlier today at CUT premises. The meeting hosted more than 15 participants both from the consortium (Cyprus University of Technology, Infralabs, University of Cyprus and Department of Antiquities) as well as from the supporters of the project (Department of Land and Surveyors).
